The calculator implements a textbook quick ratio formula and uses industry-specific bands triangulated from the Damodaran NYU Stern Working Capital Requirements by Industry Sector dataset and named academic textbooks. Source URLs and verification dates are listed on the methodology and sources pages.
Industry bands are general expectations for a healthy firm in that sector. Individual companies vary substantially. A reading inside the band is not a guarantee of solvency; a reading outside the band is not a guarantee of distress. Always read the quick ratio alongside the cash conversion cycle, revolver availability, debt maturity schedule, and AR aging.
Worked examples on this site use clearly-fictional company names (Acme SaaS Co., Acme Grocers Co., Acme Pharma Co.) with numbers chosen to demonstrate methodology. They are not financial models of real companies.
